by PREMIUM.CAT

The celebration of poetry in modern times

The Barcelona Poetry Festival has again transformed the city into an epicenter of verses and melodies, capturing the attention of a very special audience. In this edition, the undisputed protagonists were the young adults, a generation often overshadowed by their environment, which he responded enthusiastically despite the weather adversities.

An unexpected scenario

The evening, initially planned to take place in the convent of Sant Agustí, needed a change of stage due to the possibility of rain. Thus, the old Born Market hosted the event, creating a magical atmosphere with its closed walls and blue lights that gave a gothic touch at night.

The response of young people

Attendees, many of them parents who had left their children with relatives, showed an admirable determination to reach the commercial square. On arrival, they were received by the last notes of a harpieus played by Jansky, formed by Laia Malo and Jaume Reus, who served as a prelude to a night full of artistic creation.

A multisensory experience

The festival continued with the performance of Palpar, an innovative proposal based on the poemary ‘La nit oviparous’ by Maria Sevilla. Accompanied by two musicians who manipulated unconventional instruments, the poet captivated the audience with a dynamic recitation style reminiscent of the Poetry Slams, addressing deep themes such as body and identity.

The return of the Swedes

One of the most anticipated moments of the night was the Swedish concert, which marked his return after a long period of silence. His performance was a real show, with a given audience that sang each letter with passion. The emotion was palpable, and out of space, a long queue was formed, waiting for the opportunity to live the experience.

A lost opportunity

However, not everything was easy. Many of the young people who had made the trip from Commerce Street met the disappointment of not being able to see the remedy performance of Ca la Fresca. Despite the increase in the tail, the rain respected the evening, offering a unique night to this generation seeking its space.

Reflections on the future of poetry

The Barcelona Poetry Festival has shown that poetry can be a powerful engine of connection, especially among younger generations. With an innovative format and attractive programming, it is clear that the relationship between music and word continues to evolve, opening new paths for artistic expression in the future.
