A remarkable growth in the gangs
This year, 14 groups have managed to complete castles of 8, marking a significant increase compared to the 7 groups of last year and 6 of the same time of 2023. Before the feast of Sant Jordi, and with the Easter break, the first weeks of the 2025 season promise to be exceptional, with special emphasis on the groups that have already reached the level of castles of 8.
Data that reflects enthusiasm
In the first weeks of 2025, 27 4de8 castles were recorded, which is more than double compared to 12 2024 and 13 in 2023. In addition, 3de8 has seen a significant increase, with 11 unloaded castles and a load, in front of the five that were achieved in the previous two seasons. Although the 2de7 has grown with a more moderate pace, with 17 castles this season, compared to 15 last year and 9 years ago.
The Castellers de Vilafranca, indisputable leaders
The Castellers de Vilafranca stand out again as the most powerful gang of the beginning of spring. They have been the only ones to overcome the basic range of 8 with an impressive 7de8, obtained during the Graller Day. In contrast to 2024, when they also planted the tower of 8 with lining and the 3de9 with lining, these castles are objectives that they have in mind for the coming weeks.
Other gangs that shine
Gangs such as the Capgrossos de Mataró, the Colla Vella dels Xiquets de Valls, the Minyons de Terrassa and the Moixiganguers de Igualada have also achieved the classic of 8.The Morocco de Salt have reached the same milestone, although their 3de8 is still in the process of consolidation.
A promising future for groups
The Colles de la Vila de Gràcia, Sants and the Colla Joves Xiquets de Valls have successfully made the 4de8 and 2de7. On the other hand, the Castellers de Barcelona, Sabadell, Jove de Barcelona, Children of the Vendrell and Xics de Granollers have completed the Gros car, a structure that the Sagals d’Osona tried to dismantle in their last performance.
Possible new milestones
The list of castles is completed with the Colla Jove Xiquets de Tarragona and the Xiquets de Reus, who have won the 2de7. With the respective St. George’s Days on the horizon, these two groups could consider the assault on the basic range of 8 on Wednesday 23 in the evening.

With these outstanding performances, the 2025 castles season is being shaped as one of the most exciting in recent years. The gangs have not only shown their strength, but also have lit the spirit of competition and collaboration that characterizes the casteller world.
