Audiovisual Corporation’s strategy

Valencian public television, À Punt, has decided to adopt an innovative approach to increasing its audience. Vicente Ordaz, President of the Audiovisual Corporation of the Valencian Community, recently exhibited in a meeting in Les Corts that the chain will incorporate more Spanish content into its programming. This change seeks to attract a Spanish -speaking audience, with the aim that they also consume products in Valencian.

A worrying balance of audience

With a screen share of 2.6% during 2024, À Punt has become the least viewed regional chain in Spain. Ordaz emphasized that, despite the current proportion of programming in Valencian, which remains at 92%, the need to improve audience figures is urgent. “We want À Punt to be the television of all Valencians,” he said.

The proposal of dual broadcast

One of the most prominent initiatives is the dual broadcast of films and series, where Spanish will be presented as the main language on certain occasions. Ordaz made it clear that this decision does not imply a rejection of the Valencian, but it seeks a better adaptation to the needs of the current audience.

Possible changes in programming

In order to optimize resources and improve the results, À Punt has begun making adjustments to its grid. Ordaz said that some external production programs have not achieved the expected results, which has led to its cancellation. Instead, new formats and schedules have been introduced to maintain the interest of the public.

Readjustments in the content

Recently, the ‘Live’ program has been suspended in favor of ‘Good afternoon, Valencian Community’, and modifications have been made during broadcasting hours to try to capture more audience. In the afternoon, the contest ‘Take me if you can’ and ‘The kitchen of Morera’ take center stage, while the program ‘Grape’ changes from midnight schedule.

Long -term vision

Ordaz concluded his speech with a thank you to his predecessor, Alfred Costa, emphasizing that À Punt’s commitment to public service and the dissemination of Valencian would remain a priority. However, the reality of the limited budget of 78 million euros for 2025 requires all the options available to guarantee the viability of the chain.
