Increased demand demand
The Women’s Information and Care Service (SIAD) of the Commonwealth of the Conca de Odena (MICOD) has seen a significant increase in the number of women who have requested support in 2024. The recent balance report, published this week, reveals that 446 women have been attended, marking a 25% increase compared to the previous year. This trend emphasizes the growing need for assistance in psychological, legal and social issues.
Improvements in the professional team
Thanks to an agreement signed in June 2024 with the Catalan Women’s Institute, the SIAD has been able to strengthen its professional team with an investment of 293,000 euros. This injection of resources has allowed the incorporation of a new coordinator, two psychologists, a jurist and an administrative assistant, thus improving the capacity of attention and reducing the waiting times.
Extension of attention points
The service has expanded its geographical coverage, with eight points of attention in the Conca d’Odena, including five locations in Igualada, as well as a presence in Vilanova del Camí, Santa Margarida de Montbui and Òdena. This allows women in the region to have access to services near their home.
Specialized care in Psychology and Law
For 2024, the SIAD made a total of 1,326 visits, including both the first care and the follow -up. The reception visits to new users were 329, while 997 were followed. Most consultations have been psychological in nature, addressing topics such as stress, parenting and couple conflicts.
Emotional and legal challenges
Women have reported an increase in the referrals of mental health services due to long waiting. Legal consultations have focused on topics such as separations, layoffs and labor irregularities, reflecting the difficulties with which many users face.
Coordination and awareness
The recent agreement has also facilitated better coordination with other services such as health and social services, thus improving comprehensive care. Several community initiatives have been implemented to raise awareness of gender inequalities and prevent violence, with the support of the Barcelona Provincial Council.
Workshops and reflection spaces
Workshops have been organized on relevant issues such as menopause, divorce and affective -sex education. In addition, support spaces have been created, such as the Lilac points, which focus on LGBTI health and diversity, as well as days on sexuality and violence.
Awareness -raising initiatives
The SIAD has launched campaigns such as ‘non -sexist toys’ and ‘We put the desire at the center’, which include exhibitions and debates on sexual consent and violence, to foster greater social awareness of these problems.
With these actions, the SIAD Micod is positioned as a fundamental pillar in the care and support of women in the Conca d’Odena, showing that collaboration and commitment are essential to addressing the needs of this group.
