Presentation of the exposition

The exhibition entitled ‘Another Story’ was born from a programme of the same name produced by the TV3 television channel. It was open to the public at the Museu d’Història de Catalunya from 1 February to 28 April. Visitors can now enjoy this fascinating exhibition in Lleida until 17 November. The collection displays nearly a hundred everyday items, each one full of intimate and personal stories that together make up a rich mosaic that tells the story of the evolution of our nation over the last century.

Interinstitutional Collaboration

This extraordinary exhibition has been organized by the Museum of Lleida and the Museum of History of Catalonia, with the collaboration of 3Cat, El Terrat and EZ Films-Ireland. The selection of the objects on display is based on the popular television program broadcast between November and December 2023, moderated by Albert Om, which was recorded in eight emblematic locations of Catalan cultural heritage, such as the Monestir de Sant Pere de Rodes and the University of Barcelona.

A Journey through Personal Stories

During the different episodes of the program, citizens from different regions of Catalonia presented the articles and shared the personal narratives that make them unique. This experience not only enriches knowledge, but also connects emotionally with the historical past of Catalonia through living anecdotes and memories of its inhabitants.

Inspiration in International Formats

The television program that gave rise to this exhibition is based on the ‘National Treasures’ format, created by the production company EZ Films and premiered on RTÉ1, the Irish public television. The careful selection of the articles is based on criteria of diversity, thematic relevance and cultural symbology, with the majority being objects of daily use that portray a significant period in the history of Catalonia.

History of the Museum of Lleida

The Museum of Lleida is an institution that was established by an agreement signed on August 1, 1997, functioning as an institutional consortium. This project integrates the Generalitat of Catalonia, the Diputació and the Lleida City Council, as well as the Regional Council of Segrià and the bisbat of Lleida. The creation of the consortium derived from the accession of two important centuries-old collections preserved in the city, each with a rich history that supports the cultural heritage of the region.

Heritage Collections

The museum not only houses the archaeological collection from the Institut d’Estudis Ilerdencs, which was inherited from the old Museum of Antiquities, founded in 1868, but also includes the artistic collection of the extinct Diocesan Museum of Lleida, established in 1893. Likewise, the Museum of Lleida complements its collections with contributions from the Chapter of the Cathedral of Lleida and some temporary deposits from the National Museum of Art of Catalonia and the Museum of Archeology of Catalonia.
