Ramon Humet and dance as the axes of the season
The new cultural season of spring-summer of the City of Vila-seca is presented with a special accent in the figure of the composer Ramon Humet. Professor at the town’s conservatory, Humet will be honored at various events that will show his contribution to music and dance.
A calendar full of activities
The program, which will start in March with the Carnival festivals, will extend until August, culminating in the ‘Actions in Poetry’ event at the Vila-seca Library. With more than 50 scheduled events, the season promises to be a festival of theater, music, cinema and exhibitions.
Prominent musical proposals
Among the most anticipated performances is ‘Ilse’, a musical show that addresses the life of Ilse Weber, a Jewish composer killed in Auschwitz. The Councilor for Culture, Manuela Moya, described this work as a ‘Singing to Peace’, a proposal that touches the heart of the spectators.
Dance and solidarity music
The dance will play a significant role with performances by the Ballet de Barcelona and celebrations of the International Dance Day. In addition, the Soprano Begoña Alberdi will act to raise funds for the Antian Association, strengthening the social commitment of the programming.
Ramon Humet: a reference composer
Pep Solórzano, programmer at the Auditorium, emphasized Humet as ‘a teacher of teachers’. His music will be performed at various concerts, including performances by Ander Clemens and the modern Barcelona Ensemble, which will focus on his work.
A growing cultural space
The Josep Carreras Auditorium will be the starting point of this season with ‘La Passió according to Frida’ on March 7. This edition includes 34 performances, with a special approach to young talents, such as the Rovira i Virgili University orchestra.
Exhibitions that will enrich cultural heritage
Councilor Moya said that the next exhibition in the castle of Vila-seca will be dedicated to Modernism, a project that is carried out in collaboration with the MNAC.
A successful audience
With an average attendance of 250 spectators per event, the Vila-seca culture program has attracted a total of 10,500 visitors in the last season, with a remarkable loyalty from the family audience thanks to the Petit Celler.
