A great deployment for a realistic drill
At dawn on Thursday, about 200 people, including figures and security professionals, participated in an accident drill between a tram and a vehicle, located near Plaça de les Glòries. This activity simulated a front impact between a car and a trap convoy, with a balance of fifty injuries of various gravtere.
Figures and professionals in action
The stage came to life minutes after 2 a.m., with a 112 call that activated the emergency protocol. Hundreds of figures, mostly students from the Hospital del Mar Hospital School of Nursing and staff of the TRAM, were characterized by torn clothes and makeup to simulate wounds. Some were forced to remain immobilized inside the tram, while others were able to leave for their own will.
Rescue and medical care in a stressful situation
The emergency services quickly reached the scene, with eight Barcelona Fire Brigade units and five of the Generalitat working on the rescue and extinction of a simulated fire. At the same time, the Mossos d’Esquadra and the Guàrdia Urbana managed the evacuation of the area.
Medical care and sorting of injuries
The Medical Emergency Service (SEM) activated the multi -affected incident protocol, creating an area of care for minor injuries and a psychosocial care point. In total, 18 ambulances and 40 professionals managed the situation, with three people in critical condition, five serious, three less serious and 40 minor.
Evaluation of the operation and future improvements
With the controlled drill and evacuated injured, the Guàrdia Urbana initiated the investigation to determine the causes of the simulated accident. This exercise served to evaluate the TRAM Self -Protection Plan (PAU), recently approved by Civil Protection. Xavier Masramon, Civil Protection Technician, commented: ‘We seek to get the most out of this experience to adjust our protocols and guarantee an efficient response in real emergency cases.’
