Israel attacks UNRWA school in Gaza
An Israeli airstrike against a UN Refugee Agency (UNRWA) school in Gaza has left tragic casualties and destruction. According to the Hamas-controlled Gaza Health Ministry, at least 16 people have been killed and around fifty have been injured. The school attacked, called Al Joni, was located in the Nuseirat refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip and was home to approximately 2,000 displaced people.
International condemnation and call to action
The Gaza government has strongly condemned the attack and urged the international community to take action. In a statement, they denounced the crimes and massacres committed by the Israeli occupation against civilians, children and women, and called on all countries in the world to condemn these acts.

The Gaza Civil Defense has reported that hundreds of thousands of civilians are trapped in the center of the Gaza Strip, which has been the target of Israeli attacks in recent hours.
Call for the protection of refugees
UNRWA has reported that it provided the Israeli military with the coordinates of schools hosting displaced people, including the school that was attacked, twice a day. However, this did not prevent the tragic outcome. The agency has highlighted that the school was one of the most overcrowded in the area.

In this morning’s attacks, five journalists lost their lives, joining the victims of violence in Gaza.
