Unveiling the Artistic Tribute to Tradition
On Tuesday, April 1, 2025, Alcoy experienced a special day with the presentation event of the poster that will kick off the Sant Jordi festivals. Local artist Ximo Canet was responsible for creating this work that captures the essence of the Moors and Christians festivals, captivating all attendees with their elegance.
A tradition that unifies the community
The celebration began with the eve of April at the Calderón Theater, an event that gathered prominent members of the Sant Jordi Association, where gifts were exchanged and the passion for festivals was shared. The main appointment, the discovery of the poster, attracted a large number of citizens in the Plaza de España, where the festive atmosphere became apparent despite not being a weekend.
Expectations and emotion in every detail
With the arrival of the marked hour, the attendees gathered in front of the City Council, eager to witness the revelation. At the time the curtain fell, a sea of cell phones rose to immortalize the first image of the poster, which surprised with its earthy and ocher shades, as well as its exquisite details.
A Full Ceremony of Symbologia
Shortly after the discovery, the Hymn of the Festival resonated in the square, accompanied by a spectacular fireworks castle that marked the climax of the evening. The symbols of the festival, such as the castle, the Enramada and the Heralds, were present in the work of Canet, who also included emblematic elements of Alcoy such as the bell tower and the Cint ravine.
A start full of expectations
With such a positive reception, the poster is not only a work of art, but also a signal that the Alcoy festivities are already in sight. The community is looking forward to the events that will come, with the certainty that Canet’s work will be a reflection of the cultural richness and the tradition that characterize these celebrations.
