The Theater Show: An essential event
The city of Alcoy is preparing to host its 34th edition of the Theater Show, an event that promises to transform the town into a nerve center of the performing arts. The Councilor for Culture, Elisa Guillem, and her team are working hard so that from May 26 to 29, the citizens can enjoy high -level theatrical proposals.
Return to traditional dates
After two editions held in the fall, the contest returns to the usual dates, a decision that Guillem explained: “We decided to make this change after consulting professionals in the sector, who stated that spring was the best time for the sample.”
A diversified programming
This year’s program includes 21 works that represent a wide range of styles and backgrounds, with companies from the Balearic Islands, Catalonia, Madrid and Andalusia. Guillem emphasized the importance of this event at the state level, stating that “it is the most prominent example of the Valencian Country”.
Accessibility and opportunities
One of the great advantages of the sample is its accessibility. Ticket prices are maintained at 10 euros, an exceptional offer compared to the 30-40 euros that can cost the tickets during the regular season. Guillem believes that this allows more people to enjoy stage art.
Challenges in the organization
The organization of this contest has not been exempt from difficulties. Guillem has shared that the deadlines have been adjusted, and that the uncertainty about the Generalitat’s budget generated some concerns. “Despite the complications, we have finally received the necessary support, and we are very grateful to the professionals of the Department for their dedication and effort,” he said.
A promising future for the performing arts
In addition to the scheduled performances, this year’s show also seeks to expand its offer to new disciplines, including circus, dance and theater for children. Guillem emphasized the importance of cultural mediation, stating that “theater cannot exist without an audience”, and that the project with educational centers is essential to ensure the future of performing arts.
Alcoy: a pole of cultural attraction
For the councilor, the show represents one of the most important cultural milestones in the city. “Alcoy has a rich theatrical tradition, with a combination of professional and amateur companies that make the theater an integral part of our identity,” he concluded. The exhibition not only provides cultural value, but also has a significant economic impact on the local community.
