A festival that transforms the cultural landscape of Andorra
From May 3 to 18, Andorra will become the meeting point for lovers of classical music with the Classicand Festival, which promises to present world renowned artists. This third edition not only reaffirms the position of the event in the international cultural landscape, but also emphasizes the rich cultural heritage of the country, which will serve as a backdrop for the performances.
A spectacular opening with Anna Netrebko
The festival will begin with a recital of the famous Russian soprano Anna Netrebko, which will take place in the Central Park of Andorra la Vella. In addition to performing works by teachers such as Bellini and Tchaikovsky, Netrebko will share the stage with the Mezzosoprano Serena Malfi and the pianist Pawel Nebolsin, providing an unforgettable musical experience.
An operatic debut at the festival
For the first time, the festival will include a complete opera, ‘Lucia di Lammermoor’ by Donizetti, scheduled for May 9. This production, presented by the Dresden Festival Orchestra, will be under the direction of Joan A. Reci and Josep Caballé Domènech, promising an emotional experience that cannot be lost.
A diverse and enriching programming
In addition to the outstanding performances, the Classicand will offer a range of varied events. On May 4, the Modigliani Quartet will perform in the Gardens of Radio Andorra, while the Andorran mezzo -soprano Maria Soler, accompanied by the guitarist Rafael Serrallet, will present opera arias in the church of Sant Martí de la Cortinada.
A musical journey through the history of Andorra
On May 16, the festival will present ‘A trip’, a free audiovisual concert created with the Ull-Nu Festival. This work, which celebrates the thirtieth anniversary of the Andorran Constitution, combines music by Albert Gumí with texts by Albert Villaró, offering a unique perspective on the history of Andorra.
A closure with a flamenco touch
The festival will culminate on May 18 with a concert by the renowned artist Miguel Poveda in the lobby of the General Council, where it will present its acclaim ‘Poem of the song Jondo’.
A festival with institutional support and a promising future
The programming of this edition was recently announced during a recital of the soprano Angela Gheorghiu, emphasizing the growing interest in the festival. Classicand was born in 2023 with the aim of establishing Andorra as an international cultural center, supported by various institutions, including the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, as well as sponsors such as Creand Crèd Crèdit Andorrà and MoraBanc.
