The innovative initiative of the Generalitat

The Generalitat of Catalonia has started a new project to bring banking services to municipalities that do not have offices or ATMs. Through bank vans, this system seeks to guarantee access to financial services to more than 500 locations in the territory.

Start of service in Santa Maria de Miralles

Recently, CaixaBank activated this service in Santa Maria de Miralles, one of the 22 municipalities in the Anoia region that will benefit from it. The van, equipped with the necessary technology, arrived at the City Council to facilitate access to banking services and resolve doubts from residents.

Local opinions about the new modality

Mayor Yolanda Ruiz has expressed her enthusiasm for this initiative, describing her as an important step in preventing neighbors from traveling to the capital for banking. His opinion emphasizes the convenience of this format against the impossibility of placing an ATM in his municipality.

Schedules and accessibility

Ruiz emphasized that the service will follow a scheduled route, with schedules that will be communicated in advance to facilitate use. She hopes that the neighbors will adapt to this new way of making managements.

A service for all

Juan Carlos Bonache, head of CaixaBank’s mobile banking, said that this service was born from an agreement with the Generalitat with the aim of promoting financial inclusion in rural areas. About 400,000 inhabitants will benefit from this system throughout Catalonia.

A considerable range to Anoia

In the region of Anoia, the service is expected to reach about 15,000 potential users, with routes that will meet the needs of each population, including more frequent care for those with the highest population density.

A predominant user profile

Elisabet Martínez, a worker at CaixaBank, has shared that most users are older people, with 70% of attendees over 60. This trend emphasizes the importance of bringing banking services closer to people who need it most.

Users’ experiences

One of the neighbors, Toni Vanshots, originally from the United States, arrived with a Tuc-Tuc to use the service for the first time. He expressed his satisfaction in accessing banking services to his locality without having to move away.

A long -term solution

With the implementation of this mobile bank, the Generalitat and banks seek not only to solve immediate needs, but also to establish a sustainable model for financial care in the least accessible areas of Catalonia.
