Movements in the transfer market
Barcelona is carrying out several maneuvers to strengthen its squad this summer season. With the upcoming addition of Nico Williams, Hansi Flick has one less problem, but there is still work to do. The German coach has asked Joan Laporta for an additional financial effort to add one of the most outstanding players of the Euro Cup.
This player has shown interest in joining Barcelona, and all that remains is for the club to present an attractive offer to his current team to complete the transfer.
The talent of Dani Olmo
Dani Olmo has stood out for five seasons at RB Leipzig, showing a high level of play. This performance has allowed him to become a regular for the Spanish team, being key to the success of La Roja. With three goals and two assists in the Euro Cup, Olmo positioned himself as one of the top scorers of the tournament, getting close to being chosen as the best player.
Time to negotiate
Olmo, from Terrassa, has been the center of attention for Barcelona for some time, especially after his outstanding participation in the final phase of the Euro Cup. Although he has a contract with the German club, his release clause of 60 million euros is no longer in force. This allows Joan Laporta to start negotiations with Leipzig to acquire the player for a more affordable price.
Although several European clubs have shown interest in Olmo, he has made it clear that his priority is Barcelona. Additionally, his current team agreed to let him go if they receive a fair offer. Barcelona’s first proposal is 40 million fixed euros plus 10 in variables, but it seems that Leipzig will only accept offers close to 60 million in total. Depending on the objectives agreed upon in the variable price, the operation could be viable for the Blaugrana club.
Expected return
Negotiations are expected to begin soon and both parties will act in good faith to reach a satisfactory agreement. Considering that Manchester City and Bayern Munich are also interested in the player and have greater economic potential, Dani Olmo’s willingness to play for Barcelona will be decisive.
The midfielder wants to return home ten years after leaving. Trained at La Masia, he left the club at the age of 16 to seek more opportunities in Europe. After six seasons at Dinamo Zagreb, he saw an opportunity in Leipzig, a growing club. His performance has continually improved since he left Barcelona and, at 26, he is at the peak of his career.
