An unforgettable literary festival
From February 10 to 16, 2025, the city of Barcelona will become the epicenter of crime fiction with the celebration of BCNegra, an event that is now in its twentieth edition. With a varied program, lovers of the genre will be able to enjoy a week full of activities that include round tables, literary routes, creative workshops, and even cinema and cabaret.
Key dates and places
The festival will take place in three emblematic venues in the city: Sala Paral·lel 62, La Paloma and Mooby Bosque, all of which are prepared to host an intense and attractive program.
An impressive line-up of authors
Among the writers who will participate, names such as Yasmina Khadra, Donna Leon and Benjamin Black stand out, as well as other relevant figures on the literary scene such as Dominique Manotti and Manuel Rivas. In addition, an extensive list of emerging and established authors, such as Virginia Feito and Andreu Martin, promise to enrich the festival with their unique voices.
Essential activities
With a total of 130 participants and 44 activities scheduled, BCNegra 2025 will not disappoint. Attendees will be able to enjoy theater, music, cinema, podcasts, games and book clubs, all in an environment that promotes interaction and reflection on gender.
An international approach
This year’s edition has as its central theme the cities of Barcelona, Marseille and Naples, which will be explored through their literary narratives and cultures. The inauguration of an exhibition entitled ‘BLACK IN THREE COLORS’, by Quim Noguero, is one of the highlighted activities that promises to offer a fascinating look at the connections between these cities.
Awards and recognitions
The prestigious Pepe Carvalho Award 2025 will be awarded to Yasmina Khadra during a ceremony scheduled for Thursday, February 13. This distinction, which recognizes her contribution to the genre, will be presented at the Saló de Cent of Barcelona City Hall, and can be followed live on betevé.
