A vision to future for the Catalan capital

The Mayor of Barcelona, Jaume Collboni, has presented an ambitious strategic plan that seeks to transform the city’s economy in the next ten years. With the aim of creating quality employment and diversifying the sources of income, Collboni aspires to turn Barcelona into a global economic benchmark.

Investments and Opportunities: A specific plan

The project, called ‘Barcelona promotes’, envisages the creation of up to 180,000 well -paid jobs and the use of 1.8 million square meters of metropolitan land. To carry out this initiative, the City Council will allocate a budget of 890 million euros, with 215 million euros reserved for 2025.

A defiant economic context

Collboni said that the recent tariff crisis, caused by the Trump administration’s commercial policies, can be seen as a ‘magnificent opportunity’. According to him, this challenging scenario may encourage the location of projects and talents, increasing the city’s competitiveness in a global market.

Ocho strategic areas for value creation

The Collboni Plan proposes to divide Barcelona into eight major areas of economic activity. One of the main centers will be La Sagrera, with more than one million square meters for economic activities. This area is presented as a ‘unique opportunity’ to establish a new innovation pole.

Diversification and specialization

Other areas include the Diagonal Health axis, focused on research and health; Sants-Montjuïc, which will become a hub of connectivity and culture; and 22@, dedicated to innovation and creativity. Diversification in sectors such as the blue economy, green creative industry and food will be key to global strategy.

Strategies for a sustainable future

In addition to the areas of activity, the Plan seeks to strengthen the presence of Barcelona in ten strategic sectors, including trade, health and digital economics. This commitment to sustainability and innovation is essential to guarantee a balanced and resilient development in a changing world.

With this transformative vision, Barcelona positions itself as a city with a promising future, designing a path that seeks not only to economic growth, but also to improve the quality of life of its citizens.
