A celebration of international basketball
From April 12 to 16, the Municipal Sports Palace of Cambrils will become the stage of an intense basketball competition, with the participation of almost 800 players of 71 teams. This will be the twentieth edition of the international tournament organized by the TGN Bàsquet, which attracts teams from various parts of Europe, including Turkey, Ireland, Belgium and Germany.
An event that breaks borders
The Mayor of Cambrils, Oliver Klein, together with other municipal authorities and leaders of the TGN Bàsquet, presented this edition, emphasizing the importance of the event in the local sports calendar. The mayor emphasized that the tournament has become a tradition rooted in the city, attracting teams from around the world and offering a young talented platform.
Fostering women’s sport
With an emphasis on inclusivity, this year’s event also stands out for the participation of numerous female teams, a trend that has been consolidated over the years. Gemma Balanyà, Councilor for Sports, emphasized the positive impact that this tournament has had on the promotion of sport between women and girls.
An ideal environment for young athletes
With more than 19,000 participants over the course of two decades, the tournament is not only a competition, but also an opportunity for young people between the ages of 10 and 14 to enjoy basketball in an exceptional environment, while benefiting from the leisure opportunities that Cambrils offers for families.
New additions and innovations
The organizers have expressed their thanks to the City Council for making it possible to carry out this great event. In addition, this year there will be the participation of new teams such as the Belleflamme Liege of Belgium and the Dublin Raiders of Ireland, as well as the repetition of experiences by formations such as Travel Team and Sport Fabrikasi in Turkey. One of the most prominent new features is the opportunity to follow the matches through the APP Score, facilitating access to the event for all fans.
Cambrils, scenario of sporting events
The Basketball Tournament joins other traditional activities of Easter in Cambrils, such as the dance dance competition Dancesport and the World Football World Cup, consolidating the city as a meeting point for sports and fun during these dates so marked.
