A posthumous tribute to the great athlete from Sabadell
Last Sunday, a simple but emotional tribute was held to Carme Valero, who lost her life on January 2. The Indoor Athletics Track in Sabadell, where the Spanish Under-18 Championship was held, now officially bears his name, after the Board of Spokespersons approved it unanimously.
An exceptional sporting and human trajectory
The event consisted of the screening of a video reviewing Carme Valero’s achievements as an athlete and as a person. Also speaking was Josep Maria Antentas, former president of the Sabadell Athletic Youth and the Catalan Athletics Federation, as well as a personal friend of Valero. Antentas praised his sporting career, full of records and medals, but also his commitment to equality in the world of sport.

wasIn addition to giving the name to the sports facility, a mural has also been placed that summarizes who Carme Valero was and what were his most outstanding milestones. The event was attended by the mayor of Sabadell, Marta Farrés, the general director of Sport and physical activity of the Generalitat, Aleix Villatoro, the president of the Catalan Federation and vice-president of the Spanish Federation, Mercè Rosich ; the president of the Athletic Youth of Sabadell, Jordi Molins, and the sports adviser of the Provincial Council, Abel García, among other representatives of clubs in the city and relatives of the athlete.
