A tradition that lasts
The Cassà Literary Awards, one of the most emblematic events in the Girona region, shines again in its edition this year. Founded in 1967 by the Colla Excursionista de Cassà, these awards have been a springboard for several recognized authors, such as Vicenç Villatoro and Rafael Vallbona, who started their literary journey in this competition.
Innovation and creativity for youth
One of the most exciting novelties of this edition is the prize ‘Letters to be sung – Joan Codolà’. Aimed at young people between the ages of 14 and 18, this award seeks to inspire literary creation in contemporary formats, such as the lyrics of songs. Participants can compete individually or in groups, with a table of mixtures as a reward.
The recover of the correletres
The ‘Correcletres’ contest, which challenges writers to create in just 48 hours from a word or theme provided by the jury, is still one of the most anticipated. In this 2025 edition, the competition has been divided into two categories: narrative for children under forty and poetry Xavier Carbó, open to all. With a prize of 300 euros for each category, participants have time until March 16 to present their creations.
Fostering local talent
The Manel Tolosà Literary Awards, aimed at the 5th and 6th graders of elementary schools in Cassà, are also part of this edition. Students will compete for the best story, incorporating a word imposed by the jury, a way to promote their creativity and literary skills.
Other literary initiatives
In addition to the traditional awards, the 22nd Book Points Contest opens the participation to all interested parties, while the Secondary School Research Work Awards will recognize the best academic works of the Baccalaureate students in Cassà. These initiatives reinforce the importance of literature in the community.
Key dates and registrations
Registration for the 59th edition of the ‘Correcletres’ will open on February 28 and will close on March 9. The jury will announce the word that will inspire the works on March 14, giving participants 48 hours to deliver their creations. The awards ceremony will take place on April 26 at 17:30 in the room of the Recreational Center, where the best works in each category will be recognized.
A FUTUR BLILLANT per literature
With these activities, the literary awards of Cassà not only celebrate literature, but also foster participation and creativity between young people and adults, consolidating themselves as an essential literary reference in the region.
