Recapitulation and new horizons

In a press conference held shortly after their annual assembly, the Castellers de Vilafranca presented a balance sheet of the 2024 season and shared their aspirations for 2025. The group, under the direction of Àngel Grau and the presidency of Ernest Gallart, is determined to remain a benchmark in the Casteller world.

Outstanding performances and future goals

During 2024, the Castellers de Vilafranca performed a total of 25 performances, including 12 extra-range castells. For next year, the technical team seeks to encourage greater participation in rehearsals, while planning sessions focused on the emotional health of the youngest and safety during performances.

Calendar 2025: Tradition and innovations

The new season’s schedule reflects a continuity with previous years, including the return to the Historical Mercè Day in Barcelona, scheduled for September 27, and participation in the Pepe Rodríguez Memorial in Sitges, on July 26. In addition, the castellers aim to achieve a 10-story castle in Sitges, a historic challenge for the group.

An ambitious vision for the gang leader

Àngel Grau, the group leader, has set ambitious goals for himself since the beginning of his term. In addition to consolidating the 10-man towers, he seeks to recover the unlined towers, and he is confident that the good experiences of 2024 with the 9-man pillar with lining, handcuffs and struts will inspire the group to achieve its goals.

Internationalization and new opportunities

The group also plans to make a major international leap in 2025, with a trip to Japan between May 23 and 31 to participate in the Catalan Week, which will be held in the context of the Universal Exhibition in Osaka. This trip not only seeks to showcase the castellera culture, but will also include visits to companies and institutions in the Asian country.
