A party for everyone
The City Council of Lleida, through its Department of Sustainability, has launched the registration process for the tenth edition of the Festa de la Mitjana, which will be held on June 1. This festival seeks to attract a wide range of participants, from families to athletes, focusing on biodiversity as the main theme of activities.
Healthy and educational activities
The day will begin at 9:30 with a healthy hike, which will offer two 5 km routes inside the Parc de la Mitjana and a 15 km that will extend to the Horta de Granyana. At the same time, open doors will be held at the bird ring station until 12:30, allowing attendees to discover the rich birdlife of the area.
Workshops and games for all ages
From 10:00, various workshops and games designed for adults and children will begin. Notable activities include a naturalistic safari to create an explorer kit, as well as a space dedicated to board games with environmental themes. The little ones will also enjoy a game space adapted for children from 0 to 3 years old.
Unique experiences in nature
The park’s audiovisual space will offer a selection of projections that will show the beauty of the river and the riparian forest, while a workshop called ‘1 bike +’ will teach attendees to pedal safely in the city. In addition, a bird observation point and a family pedal will be organized with a route of 8 km.
Moments of relaxation and culture
The party will also include Tai Chi sessions along the river, as well as a storytelling session for children. At 12:00, there will be a guided tour that will show the management of the park and the importance of urban renaturalization.
Dramatized and inclusive visits
In the afternoon, the party will be resangered with dramatized visits that will take place between 17:00 and 20:00. Through historical characters, attendees will be able to explore the relevance of the park for local biodiversity. Some sessions will include Catalan sign language interpretation, guaranteeing access to everyone.
A commitment to biodiversity
All activities will be free, with some that will require prior registration. The Mitjana Festival is part of the Urban-Nat Lleida project, which seeks to renaturalize the urban environment, adapting it to climate change and improving biodiversity, with the support of the Biodiversity Foundation and the European Union.
Local collaborations
The support of local companies such as Aqualia, Lleida buses, and Reale Seguros, among others, highlights the interest in environmental preservation and the promotion of sustainability in Lleida.
