Inauguration and Discovery of Local Heritage

The year began with an exciting ceremony that marked the beginning of the activities dedicated to the homage to Joan Robles. On this occasion, informative panels were installed illustrating the altars of the parish church of the Palau d’Anglesola, with the prominent participation of Carles Freixes i Codina, director of the Regional and Diocesan Museum of Solsona. These new installations not only serve as visual guides, but also included an interactive game designed to foster the curiosity of attendees about the heritage richness of this emblematic building.

Conferences and Reflections on the Artist

In June, the event was enriched with a conference focused on the life and work of Robles. Carmen Berlabé, curator of the Lleida Museum, together with local historian Francesc Balcells i Llobera, offered a deep insight into the historical and social context that surrounded the artist. These presentations served to situate Robles not only as a sculptor, but also as a witness to an era.

A Community Approach to the Exhibition

One of the most unique activities was the exhibition of Robles sculptures, which were provided by the same residents of the Palau d’Anglesola. Joan Yeguas and Sebastià Garralon, authors of a book dedicated to the artist, guided the public through a series of works that illuminated the talent and diversity of his artistic production.

Education and Creativity for Young People

The year did not leave out the little ones, who had the opportunity to participate in a sculpture workshop led by David Fernàndez. This initiative allowed the children to explore their creativity, being inspired by Robles’ work, and in addition, they were able to take home their own creations.

Final Reflections and Future Projects

Historians Miquel Torres and Maria Garganté closed the year with two presentations that reviewed the contributions made by experts throughout the year. Garganté emphasized the importance of the church of the Palau d’Anglesola as an example of Catalan Baroque architecture, while Torres defended the uniqueness of Robles, its adaptation to rural life and its craft production strategy in a saturated market

Albert Velasco, historian, expressed his gratitude to all the institutions and people who have contributed to making this Robles Year possible. He urged the authorities to continue promoting the preservation of the artist’s legacy, with proposals such as the creation of an interpretation center in the church and the promotion of a Baroque art route to enhance local heritage.

Looking to the future, it was announced that, on Seu Vella Day 2025, the contributions of Joan Robles will be remembered again through various activities, including a new sculpture workshop for children, inspired in his iconic creations.
