A Sunday full of activity in Plaça de Sant Jaume
The iconic square of Sant Jaume will host this Sunday one of the most anticipated days of the castellera season, commemorating the festival of Santa Eulalia. The appointment will bring together eight emblematic groups of the city, each with the aim of showing its prowess and creativity in the construction of castles.
Participants and expectations
The groups that will take part in the event are: Castellers de Barcelona, Castellers de la Sagrada Familia, Castellers de la Vila de Gràcia, Castellers de Sants, Castellers de Sarrià, Castellers del Poble Sec, Colla Castellera on the left of the left Eixample and Colla Castellera Jove of Barcelona. All of them prepare average range castles of 7, with the aim of exceeding the expectations of the previous editions.
A strict schedule and varied repertoire
The day will be developed in a traditional format of rounds, with a limit of one hour for each group to make a varied repertoire. The Castellers de Barcelona, with their consolidated technical team, hope to execute castles of the basic and average range of 7, while the Castellers de Sants are preparing for a 4de7 with the needle and a 7de7.
Celebrations parallel to the Millennium of Montserrat
Simultaneously, the two groups of the Xiquets de Valls will focus on the celebrations of the Millennium of the Foundation of the Abbey of Montserrat. This commemoration will include pillars in honor of La Moreneta, emphasizing the importance of the castellera tradition in Catalan culture.
A day of tradition and culture
In Montserrat, the day will begin with a mass and other religious activities, followed by demonstrations of castles by the Vallenques groups, who will bring a festive touch to the celebration with the eagle, giants and dwarves.
The castellera agenda of the weekend
In addition to the day in Barcelona, the weekend will be marked by other events, such as the 56th Renewal of the Flame of the Catalan Language in Prada, and the performances in Montserrat.
