A Special Day for Community

This Sunday, Tarragona will become the meeting point for the celebration of Africa 2025.

Cinematography and reflection

The day will begin at 11 am with the screening of the short film ‘Beutset’ (Aurora), directed by Alicia Mendy. This 2023 work addresses the serious problem of water pollution in Dakar and its impactful impact on the health of young people. After the projection, attendees will be able to participate in an open debate that will enrich their understanding of the topics addressed.

A journey of self -knowledge

The film tells the story of a young man, who, after falling ill by a parasite who pollutes the waters, begins a personal discovery journey. His experience leads him to both political and spiritual awakening, which provides an opportunity for reflection on environmental and social issues.

Cultural and gastronomic activities

In the Pergola del Serrallo, cultural diversity will be evident with African -rooted music and dance performances. Groups like Afrobeats and Africa Ritmo will present a vibrant show that, combined with tastings of rich African gastronomy, promises an immersive experience.

Workshops and demonstrations

The little ones will also have the opportunity to enjoy various activities, including a sand workshop. In addition, handmade sewing techniques with Wax fabrics will be an initiative that highlights the creativity and the African tradition, organized by associations such as the Indivisible Association and the Association of African Women of Tarragona.

An event that unites cultures

The celebration of Africa Day is not only limited to Tarragona, but is part of a larger event that includes simultaneous projections in other cities in Catalonia and Senegal. Thus, Tarragona positions itself as a cultural hub, promoting dialogue and understanding between different cultures.

With this day, Tarragona reaffirms its commitment to cultural diversity and international cooperation, offering a space where African voices can be heard and celebrated.
