An Event That Celebrates Reading
The Casino l’Aliança del Poblenou in Barcelona became on Wednesday the stage for the 24th edition of the Night of Magazines and Press in Catalan, an annual event organized by the APPEC Magazine and Digital Editors. This year, the tribute focused on readers, considered the heart and soul of publications in the Catalan language.
The Importance of the Reader in Journalism
During the evening, the essential role of readers in the world of communication was highlighted. The president of APPEC, Germà Capdevila, emphasized the importance of magazines as refuges for quality journalism, in contrast to the overload of immediate information and the proliferation of misinformation on social networks.
A Space for Reflection and Analysis
Capdevila defended that magazines offer an ideal space for in-depth analysis and the presentation of content prepared with rigor and professionalism, a need that is increasingly evident in the current information context.
Awards and Recognition: Celebrating Excellence
The event brought together approximately 300 attendees, including prominent figures such as the President of the Parliament, Josep Rull, and the Minister of Linguistic Policy, Francesc Xavier Vila. In total, 15 awards and various recognitions were given to the best publications of the year.
Outstanding Awardees
Awarded publications include ‘Descobrir’ as best magazine, ‘Ara’ as daily press, ‘SomRurals’ for non-daily press, and ‘El Vallenc’ in the digital category. In addition, the best reports were recognized with awards for ‘Ateneus’, ‘El 9 Nou’ and ‘La Mira’.
Editorial Design and Special Awards
The editorial design was recognized with awards for ‘Serra d’Or’, ‘Regió7’ and ‘Sàpiens’. In addition, the popular vote distinguished the covers of ‘Vèrtex’ and ‘La Veu de l’Anoia’. APPEC also awarded special awards to journalist Enric Calpena, the Ona Llibres bookstore and the Cultura Activa d’Andorra entity.
A Reminder of the Passage of Time
This edition of the Night of the Magazines was also an opportunity to commemorate important anniversaries in the world of publications, such as the centenary of the Revista de Catalunya and the 50 years of ‘Perspectiva’, ‘Els Marges’ and ‘Foc Nou’ , as well as the 25 years of ‘Caramella’ and ‘Bonart’.
An Unforgettable Evening
The Night of Magazines and Press in Catalan was not only an event to reward excellence, but also a celebration of the Catalan language and culture, a reminder of the power of reading and committed journalism in a world in constant change.
