Recognizing Castellera Excellence
The next Castells Night, scheduled for January 25 in Valls, will become a celebration stage for the groups that have stood out during the season. The four groups awarded as the most complete are the Castellers de Vilafranca, the Moixiganguers d’Igualada, the Nois de la Torre and the Castellers del Foix, each in their respective category.
The Casteller Barometer: A Collective Merit
Established in 2014, the Casteller Barometer rewards groups that have managed to build castles with a remarkable level of complexity. The distinctions focus both on groups that have reached a higher level in their constructions, and on those that have presented a diverse range of castles, with a minimum of three different structures per category.
Categories and Awards: A Detailed Analysis
Category of 10: A Challenge Without a Winner
Surprisingly, the 10 category was left empty, as no team managed to complete the three structures required in this range. Since the creation of the awards, there has never been a success in this category.
Category of 9: Dominance of Vilafranca
The Castellers de Vilafranca have consolidated themselves once again as leaders in the 9 category, with a total of seven different structures downloaded: 4de9fa, 5de9f, pde8fm, 2de9fm, 9de8, 3de9f and 4de9f. This is the third consecutive time they have achieved this award, surpassing the Colla Vella, which came in with six structures.
Category 8: Moixiganguers in Full Splendor
The Moixiganguers group from Igualada also shone again in their category, with six different castles completed. This is their third consecutive distinction in this range, standing out with structures such as the 4de8a and the 5de8.
Category of 7: A New Winner
The Nois de la Torre have made history by receiving an award from the Barometer Casteller for the first time. With eight different structures in their portfolio, they have demonstrated great versatility and a remarkable evolution in their technique.
Category of 6: Foix, Innovation and Tradition
The Castellers del Foix de Cubelles have set a precedent in the 6-man category, achieving a total of eleven structures, making them the first to complete the entire range. Their performance has been exceptional, standing out for its diversity and solidity.
Solidarity Actions at the Gala
In addition to the awards, this year’s gala will also include a solidarity action, with the donation of pallets of food products to local non-governmental organizations, an initiative that aims to support the communities most in need.
Towards New Goals
With each edition, the Night of Towers not only recognizes the effort and dedication of the groups, but also inspires new generations to continue building and surpassing themselves. Modest groups find in this recognition an opportunity to shine and make a name for themselves in the world of human tower building.
