A memorable tribute to Sarrià

On December 13, as part of Saint Lucia’s Day, a very special commemorative event was held at the Capuchin convent in Sarrià. This event not only celebrated the centenary of the birth of Father Jordi Llimona, but also remembered the 25th anniversary of his disappearance. Organized by several entities, including the Department of Justice and Democratic Quality of the Generalitat de Catalunya, the event brought together friends, colleagues and admirers.

Remembering the essence of Jordi Llimona

Fra Eduard Rey was in charge of guiding the event, presenting several testimonies that shared memories about the life and impact of Father Llimona. Ramon Bassas, Director General of Religious Affairs, highlighted the relevance of applying Llimona’s teachings in building a more just and democratic society.

Music as a tribute

Singer Maria del Mar Bonet brought an emotional touch to the celebration with her interpretation of the poem set to music ‘El Pi de Formentor’, highlighting the figure of Llimona as a true angel who left a mark on all those who knew him.

Artistic and community legacy

Miquel Llimona, a relative of the Father, referred to his family’s artistic heritage and the sensitivity they have transmitted over generations. In addition, Fra Enric Castells shared anecdotes about Father Llimona’s community life, highlighting his dedication to others, even in the simplest tasks such as washing dishes.

Social activism at the heart of its mission

Josep Maria Carbonell reflected on Father Llimona’s social activism, recalling key moments such as the Rally for Freedom, and showing a fragment in which Llimona participated, highlighting his passion for justice and equality.

A personal experience

I myself had the privilege of participating in this event full of emotion, remembering my experience as an ethics student at the University School of Santa Madrona. It was a moment to emphasize the inspiration that Father Lemon passed on to us, his courage and the importance of empathy and mutual understanding.

A future with purpose

The words of Provincial Jesús Romero, read by Fra Eduard Rey, urged all attendees to continue the legacy of Father Llimona, working for a better world. At Inner Human Hub, we are committed to being agents of change, acting as bridges and facilitators in this collective mission.
