New works and summer cuts

After the San Juan holiday, users of the Barcelona Metro have encountered important changes. Summer works have begun, affecting two significant sections: one on L5, between the Cornellà Center and Collblanc stations, and another on L2, between Paral·lel and Sagrada Família. These interventions will be added to cuts of shorter duration and affectation of stops on lines L4 and L10 Nord in the future.

Adapting to the new situation

On this Tuesday, which is like a Monday in practical terms, L5 users have had to adapt to the new situation at the Collblanc station. Travelers coming from Vall d’Hebron, at the other end of the line, now have to get off at the Collblanc station and take a shuttle bus that follows a similar route to the Metro, but includes stops on the L1. This change aims to divert users to the red line and discover alternatives to the usual itineraries.

Crowds and challenges

Despite the efforts of Metro staff to redirect users and speed up movements, there have been crowds at the Collblanc station during the morning. This station, which is now the end of the line, is an important mobility node with a link to lines L9 Sud and L10 Sud. On the platform, the disembarkation of passengers is speeded up and an attempt is made to speed up the boarding of buses so that They can move quickly. However, there have been times of increased crowding due to technical problems with the buses.

Cuts on L5

The most extensive outage affects Metro L5, which leaves the entire section between Cornellà Center and Collblanc without service, including eight stations. This cut will last from June 25 to September 1. During this period, the L5 will operate only between Collblanc and Vall d’Hebron. It is estimated that approximately 72,000 passengers will be affected on weekdays in June and July, and around 66,000 in August. Transport alternatives include a shuttle bus that will link all affected stations, except Can Vidalet, and Metro line L1. In addition, other options are offered such as TramBaix, buses D20 and H8, and Rodalies R1 and R4 services.
