A trip through female memory
On Thursday, April 3, at 7pm, the Cultural Center El Teula de Cocentaina will become the scene of the screening of ‘Flores Bajo Hielo’, a work by director Marco potyomkin. This initiative is the result of the collaboration between the collective March 8 and Women, and the Forum for the Historical and Democratic Memory of Cocentaina, with the support of the Local City Council within the State Pact on Social Services.
A deep look at women’s experiences
The documentary offers a moving exploration of the historical memory of Spain, focusing on the experiences of women who suffered the devastating consequences of the Civil War and the Franco dictatorship. Through 18 stories, the invisibility of these voices, often marginalized for ideological and gender reasons, is illuminated.
Testimonies that mark
The voices of exiled women, imprisoned and locked up in concentration camps provide an intimate perspective on lived horrors, revealing the cruelty and strength that have marked their lives. These narratives are a testament to the past, but also a call for reflection on the importance of not forgetting.
An innovative visual style
With an aesthetic that fuses the graphic novel and Noir cinema, ‘Flores Bajo Hielo’ catches the viewer with a powerful and evocative visual presentation. This stylistic choice intensifies the emotional impact of the stories, maintaining the attention of the public as it immerses in a tumultuous past.
A documentary that challenges oblivion
The film not only seeks to remember the victims, but also emphasizes the need to keep the historical and democratic memory alive. The impact of testimonies and images can be deeply poignant, raising questions about human resilience and the importance of learning from the past.
