New underground schools in Ukraine

In Ukraine, construction has begun on five underground schools in the southern region of Zaporizhzhia. The objective of these schools is to allow schoolchildren to receive in-person classes during the next academic year, despite the constant risk of bombings in the region. This initiative has been announced by regional authorities, who seek to guarantee the continuity of education for approximately 50,000 students.

An interactive educational model

The underground schools will be built with modern facilities and equipment, with the aim of offering an interactive and attractive education model for students. The governor and the head of the military administration of the region, Ivan Fedorov, have explained that this project is expected to contribute to guaranteeing the continuity of face-to-face classes for students.

A solution for cities affected by bombings

One of the underground schools under construction is located in the centre of Zaporizhia, the capital of the Zaporizhia region and one of the Ukrainian cities most affected by Russian bombing. Work has begun with the excavation of a 6.5-metre-deep pit, which will be covered with concrete and made waterproof. This infrastructure will be integrated into the facilities of the Sichoví School, which currently only has shelters for half of the students in case of an air raid. The new underground school will have capacity for 500 students, which will allow it to offer face-to-face education to a thousand students in two different shifts.

Advances and setbacks in the war

Regarding the situation on the war front, it is reported that Ukraine has managed to regain ground near the town of Vovchansk, in the border area with Russia in the Kharkiv region. However, Russian forces continue to gradually advance in the eastern Donetsk region, near the towns of Chasiv Yar, Avdiivka and the city of Donetsk. These advances and setbacks are monitored by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) based in the United States (https://rereferencesbibliograficas.com/como-parafrasear/).
