Reproach and political tensions
The Barcelona Municipal Opposition has made a forceful decision to re -approve the Deputy Mayor, Laia Bonet, due to the situation of the Besòs flats, which could be excluded from the European Aid Next Generation due to the delay in its rehabilitation. Bonet, who has been isolated in this vote, has seen BComú, the PP and Vox aligned against it together, while ERC has opted for abstention.
You voices against the lieutenant
The proposal for a reproach was submitted to an extraordinary urban planning commission by the groups of Junts and BComú. Damià Calvet, representative of Junts, expressed the frustration of the neighborhood communities of Besòs and Maresme, who have found difficulty communicating with the authorities, urged Bonet to recognize his responsibility before the neighbors.
Critics from BComú
Lucía Martín, from BComú, made a forceful speech against Bonet, accusing her of turning her back on the neighbors who feel neglected. Its appeal to a radical change in the municipal approach reflects the growing tension in local politics.
Shared responsibilities
In addition to the reproach of Bonet, Juan Milián del PP said that both BComú and together should also be part of the responsibility for the current situation, remembering that during the previous mandates the necessary actions were not taken. Liberto Senderos de Vox echoed this critic, denouncing the passivity of past governments.
ERC is looking for alternative solutions
Eva Baró, from ERC, justified her abstention, arguing that her goal is not to reprove, but to find effective solutions. He said that Republicans would propose a common front in the next Urban Planning Commission to request the extension of the deadlines for accessing the Next Generation funds, as well as an initiative in Congress.
The defense of Laia Bonet
Laia Bonet, in response to criticism, defended its management, alleging the inaction of previous governments, emphasizing that between 2015 and 2023 only 11 homes of the hundreds were needed were rehabilitated. He insisted that no one can give him lessons about the past.
Future commitments
Despite criticism, Bonet said that the City Council is committed to the rehabilitation of 593 flats in the next term, reaffirming that they are working to fulfill the commitments made from the beginning.
