Police operation rescues 14 trafficking victims
In a joint operation between the National Police and the National Police of Ecuador, 14 women who were victims of sexual exploitation by a criminal network were freed. This network had deceived the victims, coming from Colombia and Ecuador, promising them work caring for the elderly in Spain.
The investigation carried out allowed the arrest of nine people in Valencia and Murcia, six of whom are already in provisional prison. These people were part of an organization that forced victims to engage in prostitution in deplorable conditions, keeping them available 24 hours a day and requiring them to hand over most of their income for sexual services.
Deception and exploitation in unhealthy conditions
The women were recruited in their countries of origin under false promises, and upon arriving in Spain they were forced into prostitution. Those who resisted were transferred to even more precarious conditions as punishment. In one extreme case, up to 11 women were forced to share a small room, where the sheets were only changed once a week, and they were infested with cockroaches.
Dismantling of the criminal network and additional findings
The police operation culminated with the release of the victims and the arrest of nine individuals, who face charges of trafficking in human beings for the purposes of sexual exploitation, against public health, related to prostitution, favoring illegal immigration and belonging to an organization. criminal.
In addition, a laboratory for the production, adulteration and extraction of cocaine was discovered, which led to eight entries and searches, resulting in the seizure of 7,000 euros in cash, cocaine, mobile phones and documentation related to the investigation.
