A unique place in Barcelona
A co-worker has been urging me for weeks to visit the La Clota neighborhood in Horta-Guinardó, where there is a small bar that offers delicious breakfasts and menus. After so long, I finally decided to get closer to the neighborhood and explore the place for myself. And let me tell you, I was not disappointed at all.
The bar is called El Raconet de la Clota and is located in the middle of the city, but upon entering, you are transported to another world. It is as if you were in a small town within Barcelona. The atmosphere is cozy and makes you feel at home.
A fascinating story
I spoke to Cinta Herreros, the current owner of the bar, and she told me the interesting story behind this place. It turns out that Cinta rented the bar six years ago, after the previous owner sold the property. The bar already existed under the name El Rincón, but had been closed since 2018. Cinta decided to give it a new life and turn it into a special place for residents and visitors of the neighborhood.
La Clota is known as the smallest neighbourhood in Barcelona, but that doesn’t mean it lacks charm. On the contrary, it is an oasis of tranquillity in the middle of the bustling city. Its unpaved streets and stately homes transport you to another era. Plus, at this time of year, the neighbourhood’s orchards are in full bloom, creating a beautiful and picturesque landscape.
A unique culinary experience
El Raconet de la Clota offers a variety of delicious options for breakfast, a snack or a full meal. Cinta sources its supplies mainly from the Horta market, which is right next to the bar. This ensures that the products used are fresh and of high quality.
During my visit, I tried the fried eggs with bacon and French fries, prepared by the talented chef Ferran. I also saw dishes of veal tripe, meatballs with cuttlefish, croquettes, bravas and a variety of sandwiches passing by. The offer is wide and for all tastes.
The bar has a charming terrace where you can enjoy your meal outdoors. It’s the perfect place to relax and enjoy a beer while watching the world go by. They also have a cozy indoor dining room for those who prefer a more intimate atmosphere.
