A cultural event that catches attention

The Regional Library experienced an exceptional afternoon this Friday, with a full capacity for the presentation of a book that captivates with its visual and emotional proposal. ‘Lanzarote. Human Geography’ is the inaugural work of Josep Salip, a photographer from Blanes linked to the Agrupació Fotogràfica i Cinematogràfica de Blanes (AFIC).

A tribute to craftsmanship and traditions

With his work, Salip pays homage to the artisans of Lanzarote, an island that has been his creative refuge on several occasions. Through images, the author reveals the traditions that have endured over time and the crafts that keep the local culture alive, at a time when modernity threatens to eclipse these values.

The importance of preserving cultural heritage

Salip not only documents, but also advocates for the importance of preserving traditional knowledge and practices that, over time, could disappear. This mission was also the central theme of an exhibition he presented in March 2019, focused on the island community and its relationship with the environment.

A personal journey through photography

During the event, Salip revealed his creative process, sharing the emotions that led him to immortalize every moment he experienced in Lanzarote. His passion for photography translates into a visual story that captures the essence of the people and landscapes of the island.

Reflections from friends and collaborators

Photographer Jordi Roig, a friend and colleague, offered a biographical insight into Salip, while publisher Susanna Martín explained the process of creating the book, from its initial conception to its publication. Her intervention illuminated Salip’s commitment to his work.

A dialogue with the public

The key moment of the presentation was an open discussion, where attendees had the opportunity to ask questions to the author, taking the opportunity to delve deeper into the topics that had caught their attention. This encouraged a lively and dynamic interaction between Salip and his audience.

Celebration and recognition

At the end of the event, following the tradition of literary presentations, Josep Salip signed copies of his book, while attendees toasted to the success of the work. Congratulations flowed in, recognizing his ability to capture what is often invisible to the naked eye, a quality that makes his work unique and unforgettable.
