Mubasar Operation: A strong blow to organized crime

The Civil Guard has managed to disarticulate a network dedicated to drug trafficking operating in various locations in the provinces of Tarragona and Barcelona. The operation, known as ‘Mubasar’, has resulted in the arrest of eight individuals between the ages of 31 and 48, all involved in the illegal management of marijuana crops.

Operation details: Surveillance and illegal connections

During the intervention, which took place last Wednesday, agents dismantled four interior plantations and seized a total of 2,897 marijuana plants in various stages of growth, as well as 33,460 euros in cash. In addition, Endesa has estimated that the stolen energy exceeds 170,000 euros.

Precedent Research: How did everything start

The investigation began in November 2023, following the detection of a marijuana crop on a rustic estate in Constantine. In an inspection, agents discovered that the home was illegally connected to the mains, with evidence that suggested the participation of professionals in the installation.

False identities and dangerous connections

The researchers identified that those responsible were trying to hide their identities through counterfeit documents. With the help of Endesa, they discovered a wider plot, which included other contracts with similar characteristics, all linked to a person who had worked as an inspector in the electricity company.

Collaborations and associated crimes

The two main suspects, with technical training in the electricity sector, were responsible for the illegal connections and supervising the facilities. In addition to their actions, they also took an active part in marijuana cultivation, facilitating illegal connections and registering contracts with fake names.

History of conflicts and interventions

One of the industrial buildings involved in this operation was the victim of an assault by another organization at the end of December last year. This incident led to a first joint action with the Mossos d’Esquadra, results in the confiscation of 2,669 marijuana plants.

Legal consequences and judicial future

The second operation, which was performed on March 12, mobilized 150 agents and concluded with the arrest of the eight people, who are now facing positions for documentary falsification, crop and drug trafficking, membership in a criminal organization and energy defrauding. The Court of Instruction # 1 of Tarragona has decided that all of them will enter a temporary imprisonment pending trial.
