The 28th edition of the DocsBarcelona will take place from May 8 to 18, 2025. This international event will be dedicated to the celebration of documentary cinema, offering a platform for feature films and short films that seek to connect with the public.

Projection places

The projections will be made in emblematic spaces such as the CCCB and the Renoir Floridablanca, with the possibility of following the festival through Filmin, which will act as a virtual window for those who cannot attend in person.

In this year’s edition, the festival will celebrate the eighth anniversary of the end of World War II, with Germany as a guest country. This will allow you to explore your historical legacy and the impact on the world of documentary.

In addition, he will pay tribute to the German producer and distributor Heino Deckert, with projections of two of his most significant works: ‘Rabbit à la Berlin’ and ‘Heimat is a space in time’.

Inauguration of the festival

The festival will begin on May 8 with ‘Riefenstahl’, a documentary that examines the life of the controversial filmmaker associated with Nazi Germany. This work, directed by Andres Veiel, uses unpublished archive material to offer a new perspective on his figure.

With the production of journalist Sandra Maischberger, ‘Riefenstahl’ has captivated more than 120,000 viewers in Germany, highlighting the continuous interest in the history of cinema and its most complex characters.

Closing and prizes

The festival’s closing ceremony will take place on Saturday, May 17 at the CCCB, where the winners of the various categories of the contest will be announced.
