An operation that reveals the intricate criminal network
Six individuals, five men and one woman between the ages of 28 and 39, have been arrested for their alleged involvement in crimes related to trafficking of illegal substances and membership in a criminal organization on the island of Lanzarote.
The dismantling of this criminal network was carried out after the authorities received information about illicit activities linked to narcotics smuggling through the coasts of Lanzarote.
Ingenious smuggling strategy
The investigation, which began in the middle of last year, revealed a sophisticated modus operandi in which an experienced local fisherman facilitated the transportation of drugs from the sea to the coast, using boats for the operation.
After landing on different beaches on the island, the organized group distributed and hid the narcotics in various homes in the area, while maintaining an ostentatious lifestyle with no known sources of income.
Decisive police intervention
The raid culminated in searches of eight homes located in different municipalities of Lanzarote, where significant amounts of drugs, cash, vehicles and boats used in illicit activities were seized.
The six detainees were presented before the corresponding judicial authority, resulting in preventive detention for the majority of those involved.
