A look at the ‘Eat, Act, Impact’ exhibition

During a talk organized by the environmental group La Revolta about the exhibition ‘Eat, Act, Impact’, environmentalist Carles Xifra highlighted the importance of our food choices in relation to the environment. This exhibition, curated by Xifra and presented in the Els Pagesos room, seeks to raise awareness among the citizens of Sant Feliu about the relationship between food and environmental impact.

The challenge of climate change and biodiversity

Carles Xifra highlighted the worrying situation of the planet, noting that the Earth has exceeded six of the nine planetary limits, including climate change and the integrity of biodiversity. This escalation in environmental problems is directly related to our current food system, which is one of the main causes of climate change.

The relationship between food and the climate crisis

Xifra underlined the direct relationship between food and the climate crisis, noting that the food system is responsible for 30% of polluting gases. This poses a significant challenge as the world population approaches 10 billion people.

Solutions for a sustainable future

The exhibition ‘Eat, Act, Impacta’ offers several proposals to address this problem, including the reduction of food waste, the promotion of diets based on vegetable protein, the preference for local and seasonal foods, the reduction of consumption of ultra-processed products, and the decrease in the use of packaging and plastics.

Reflections and future actions

After the talk, attendees reflected on the data presented and discussed possible solutions and individual and collective actions to address climate change. La Revolta also announced an outing to visit the exhibition in Prat de Llobregat during the month of May, inviting participation in this environmental awareness project.
