Eduard Corbí and the Alcoi School of Art and Design

Eduard Corbí, professor and former director of the Alcoi School of Art and Design (EASD), wanted to highlight the fundamental role of all those who have contributed to making it a center of reference in Europe.

Corbí, who assumed the direction of the school a year after its foundation, is considered a key figure in the history of the EASD. During the institutional event held at the IVAM CADA to commemorate this anniversary, Corbí highlighted the work of all those who made this project possible.

A center in constant evolution

The EASD has experienced significant growth since its inception. With only six teachers and 25 students in the first years, today it has more than 80 teachers and nearly 850 students. In addition, the training offer has been expanded from 3 or 4 options to 12 different specialties.

According to Corbí, the evolution of the school has been total and it is currently considered one of the most important schools in the European Union in terms of the number of specialties, quality and functional dynamics. This has been possible thanks to the contributions and uniqueness of many people who have contributed to its development.

A diverse and unique school

Corbí highlights diversity as one of EASD’s distinguishing features. Both in terms of origin and training and contributions, the school has fostered a framework of brotherhood that has allowed all members to contribute their personal wealth. This has resulted in the training of numerous design professionals throughout the school’s 50-year history.

The recognition of the EASD as a renowned school would not be possible without the collaboration of people outside the center. Corbí highlights the importance of figures such as José Sanus, key in the administrative formalization of the school at state level, and other people involved such as Mestre, Antolí, Macu Penadés and Vicent Martí.

A school with great projection

EASD has been able to adapt to changes in society over the years. Corbí highlights the role of businessmen who have collaborated with the school in the process of democratization and empowerment of society. In addition, the current director, Diana Ortiz, and her team are working to strengthen each department of the school, offering various specialties and bringing students closer to top professionals.

According to Corbí, the EASD is a unique school in Europe, with a wide variety of specialties and a dynamic that makes it a reference in the world of design. With its experience and the presence of outstanding professionals, the school prepares students for a successful career in this constantly evolving field.

A thank you to all involved

Corbí concludes his speech by recalling that he himself is a product of the Alcoi School of Art and Design. The school has had a significant impact on his life and it has been thanks to the diversity of people who have enriched it.

In short, EASD is a school with an outstanding track record and a fundamental role in the world of design. With its commitment to diversity, the quality of teaching and the collaboration with outstanding professionals, the school continues to be a benchmark in Europe.
