A difficult day for commuter users
An unexpected incident has shaken the routine of commuter travelers, when a problem in the catenary’s electricity supply has left a train immobilized between Bellvitge and Prat stations. The passengers, trapped inside the convoy, experienced a wait that lasted for more than an hour before being evacuated.
Evacuation in difficult conditions
The incident took place at half past nine in the morning. In an effort to ensure the safety of travelers, firefighters and the Mossos d’Esquadra intervened to remove passengers from the train, who had to walk along the tracks to the nearest station. Some witnesses indicate that the route was about a kilometer, a journey that was uncomfortable and potentially dangerous.
Delays and discomfort in the network
In order to avoid risks during this evacuation operation, the traffic of trains between Bellvitge and El Prat de Llobregat was suspended. This decision led to a chain reaction that affected lines R2, R2 North, R2 South and South regional ones, with significant delays reported. In addition, the R11 line also suffered delays, with users who reported waiting for more than 40 minutes.
Restablishment of circulation and new regulations
At 10:40 am, the situation began to normalize with the reestablishment of the circulation unique between the two stations. In an attempt to minimize the impact, a service of two trains per hour was established in the direction of the South R2, stopped at all stations.
Distressing experiences of travelers
Many passengers traveling before eight in the morning described a large agglomeration situation inside the train. The absence of light and the lack of air led to a suffocating atmosphere. A traveler from Sitges, Marta, shared that some travelers tried to force their doors to get some fresh air, describing the scene as worrying, with the feeling that ‘people were drowning’.
Frustration and criticism of management
The reaction of travelers has been deep frustration. Freelancers who left Torredembarra at quarter past seven did not arrive at the Sants station until 11 am, regretting the loss of the working day. Social networks have been flooded with negative comments, reflecting the accumulated anguish after several recent incidents.
Other incidents on the network
In addition to this breakdown, lines R4 and R16 have also experienced difficulties. In R4, circulation was altered by an infrastructure incidence, with average delays of 15 minutes. At the same time, R16 and Express trains have suffered delays that can reach up to half an hour due to a problem between Hospitalet de l’Infant and L’Ametlla de Mar.
