Casa Bon Gust de Figueres ends its activity
Casa Ribas, an emblematic establishment in Figueres known as ‘El bon beure’, has announced the definitive closure of its store. This decision has been accelerated by the sad loss of Carme Ribas, soul of the family business, who died last February 16. The store, specializing in wines and spirits, was a paradise for lovers of quality drinks.
A story of passion and dedication
Casa Ribas was founded in 1954 by the family’s grandparents, Pere Ribas and Carmen Figueras. In its beginnings, the establishment was dedicated to the sale of pasta for soups, food and garlic from Banyoles. Over time, the shop evolved and specialized in wines, spirits and canned snacks and tapas. It was recognized as a reference in the sector, winning the recognition of guides such as Gourmet, Guía Peñín and Trotamundos.
Over the years, Casa Ribas adapted to market changes and expanded its offer with local and quality products. It offered a wide selection of Empordà wines, oils, Figueres biscuits and other artisanal products. It also incorporated wines from other denominations of Spanish origin and a wide variety of distillates.
An emotional goodbye
With the closing of Casa Ribas, Figueres loses one of its most emblematic shops. The children of Carme Ribas, Xavier and Meritxell, have expressed their gratitude to the customers for the trust placed during all these years. In a statement, they emphasized that every customer, smile and story has been a gift for them. With hearts full of memories, they have closed the doors of the store that has been part of their lives for 70 years.
The Casa Ribas of ‘El bon beure’ in Figueres leaves an important legacy in the city. Its closure is a loss for lovers of quality wines and spirits, as well as for residents and tourists who enjoyed the unique experience this establishment offered.
