An Unmissable Cultural Festival
Emerita Lvdica returns this year with an edition full of exciting activities and surprises. From May 20 to 26, the city of Mérida will come to life with more than 130 events that will transport you to Roman times. From historical reenactments to interactive workshops, this festival offers a unique experience for all history and culture lovers.

One of the most notable developments this year is the incorporation of the canvas of the Graciano Street wall as a new space for traditional crafts workshops. In addition, you can enjoy the exciting Harpastum ball game, led by the Italian group Calcio Antico, which will take place at the Los Milagros Aqueduct. The Mulsum Competition will also be held, where you can taste the honey wine that the Romans used to enjoy, made by the recreationists themselves.
A Journey through History
Don’t miss the opportunity to participate in the first edition of the “I Iter Adpomerium” hiking route, organized by the Emerita Augusta Hiking Club. In addition, you can visit the new Interpretation Units, such as Musivaria, where you can learn about the making of Roman mosaics, and the Dance of the Gods, which will take place in the Temple of Diana. These spaces will provide you with an educational and entertaining experience for the whole family.
Main Dishes and Various Activities
The Emerita Lvdica program includes a wide variety of activities for all tastes. Don’t miss the entry of troops into the city, which will culminate with a military parade on the stage of the Temple of Diana. Another notable event is the Gladiature, which will take place in the Amphitheater and will be preceded by a march of the fighters through the streets of the city. In addition, you can enjoy the Castras of Legio V and X, which will offer military activities and machinery exhibitions. There will also be two period markets where you can immerse yourself in the Roman atmosphere and enjoy various gastronomic options.
Previous and Ongoing Activities
Before the start of the festival, various activities were carried out, such as Roman clothing workshops at the Ambierto Museum in Mérida and training in Roman cuisine by curator Pilar Caldera. These activities have been a success and have given participants the opportunity to immerse themselves in Roman culture in a practical and fun way.
