The employment forecast in Sóller for Easter

The Hotel Association of Sóller predicts occupancy for Easter at the Vall’s establishments well below the previous year’s figures. Current hotel bookings are around 52%, a figure considerably lower than in 2023, when it reached almost 90%. This significant reduction in bookings is mainly due to the fact that the Easter holidays are held very early this year, negatively affecting employment.

Factors that influence low employment

In addition, there has been a 40% reduction in flights this time compared to last year, which has led to an increase in ticket prices and a decrease in connectivity. This has generated caution in the sector, since the Easter holidays so early are usually followed by a significant drop in the influx of visitors. Despite this, there has been an increase in the German market, which continues to be the main source of tourists in Sóller.

Contrast between hotel occupancy and influx of visitors

It is important to point out that the low occupancy in Sóller’s hotels does not correspond to the large influx of visitors that the municipality receives daily. The train has increased daily journeys to transport more tourists, and excursions have also increased. However, these visitors are usually hikers who only spend the day in the town.

Information from the Tourism Office

Figures from the Plaça d’Espanya Tourist Office confirm the high influx of visitors to Sóller, as they receive an average of around 200 people a day.
