A paradise destination in Greece
The kings of Holland, William Alexander and Máxima, have begun to enjoy their long-awaited summer vacation in a luxurious villa in Greece. This year, as usual, they have chosen their paradisiacal refuge in the idyllic town of Kranidi, on the outskirts of the Peloponnese. This mansion, valued at 4.5 million euros, has become their dream destination since they acquired it in 2012.
A love at first sight
Purchasing this property was not an impulsive decision. Máxima was captivated by this place after attending the wedding of Tatiana Blatnik and Nicholas of Greece in 2010. Prince William, wanting to please his wife, subsequently traveled to the town to explore several real estate agencies. However, the purchase did not come to fruition until they sold their residence in Mozambique, which finally allowed them to acquire this opulent 4,000 square meter estate. Interestingly, Kranidi is also Queen Letizia’s favorite holiday destination, suggesting that this place has a special allure for members of the European royal houses.
A dream mansion
The estate is made up of three impressive white-facade houses with views of the Aegean Sea. The main mansion has a 100 m² room with a private jacuzzi and a living room on the first floor. On the second floor, there are two additional bedrooms, each with its own fully equipped bathroom. On the ground floor, there is a spacious and bright living room, a huge kitchen and a bathroom. In addition, the residence has a spectacular swimming pool, a tennis court and a private port, allowing the Dutch Royal Family to enjoy the privacy and exclusivity that they value so much.
Controversies and controversies
Although this Mediterranean paradise offers tranquility, it has been the subject of several controversies and complaints over the years. Activists and residents have repeatedly protested the closure of a public part of the island’s beach, implemented to guarantee the safety of the kings of the Netherlands. Furthermore, the illegal construction of a second home for the Royal Family’s bodyguards has generated controversy. Despite these problems, the Dutch royal family continues to enjoy long periods in their mansion every summer.
An early vacation
This year, the holidays of the kings of Holland have been brought forward due to the Paris Olympic Games, which they plan to attend in early August. This great event has forced many members of royal houses to reorganize their summer plans to support their respective countries in this world sporting event.
