Children’s races: a new opportunity for the little ones

The 42nd edition of the Otso Crossing of Encamp is presented with an added attraction: the incorporation of two races designed specifically for children between 6 and 11 years old, with distances of 1 and 3 kilometers. Registrations are now available through the Comuencamp.ad page, and the Minister of Sports and Economic Reactivation, Nino Marot, has expressed his enthusiasm for this initiative, emphasizing the importance of facilitating the access of young people to this emblematic event in Andorra.

Details of children’s races

The 1 km race, designed for the little ones, will be circular, with departure and arrival at Plaça dels Arínsols, and will allow participants to explore some of the main roads of Encamp. This activity seeks to create a festive atmosphere where children can enjoy the competition with family and friends.

On the other hand, the 3 km race, intended for children from 9 to 11 years old, will also follow a circular route with the same starting point and arrival. This modality offers a moderate challenge, allowing young runners to experience competition in a friendly environment.

Registration and schedules

The registration cost for both races is only 5 euros, and the departures will take place on Saturday, May 24, starting with the race of 3 km at 10 am and continuing with the race of 1 km at 11 am.

A renewed family tradition

Jordi Solé, director of the event, said that many families who have participated in previous editions have expressed the desire to be able to involve their children in the culture of the trail. This new inclusion will allow the little ones to join the Andorra Corridors community.

Route for all levels

In addition to the children’s races, the 42nd Otso crosses d’Encamp will also introduce new modalities such as the vertical kilometers, which will challenge the strength and resistance of the participants. Two options will be offered: a starting race of less than 3 km with a remarkable positive slope, and a more demanding version of less than 5 km with an even higher slope.

Both races will be held on Friday, May 23, starting from Plaça dels Arínsols, which will culminate in the Cortals d’Encamp and the CAP DE REP, respectively.

Traditional Races – a challenge for passionate

Lovers of the competition will also enjoy the traditional races of 7, 12, 21, 42 and 84 km, which continue to be an essential part of this event. All the detailed information on the races and the different routes is available in the official program of the event.
