A Different Weekend
Several media outlets speculated about Felipe and Letizia’s plans to celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary in Asturias, but the reality was quite different. The kings spent the weekend in Oviedo for an institutional commitment that had been on their agenda for weeks. This coincided with the Day of the Armed Forces in Oviedo, the hometown of Queen Letícia, where members of the three Armies and the Civil Guard were spectators of the exhibition.

Although they did not show any public celebration last Wednesday, May 22, Felipe and Letizia expressed gestures of love to put an end to the speculations. After the event, they kept their privacy and were not seen in any public celebration. There is no evidence of any photographs of the kings in any restaurant in the city, or sightseeing or enjoying the beach, as the king did on Friday in Gijón. This discretion fueled speculation, but the Royal House reiterated its request that they be shown together and happy, although the royals flatly refused. They seem to want to stop pretending and live their relationship authentically.
