Start of the Patron Saint Festivals
Last Sunday, January 19, the Brotherhood of Sant Sebastià kicked off the festivities in honor of the patron saint of La Seu d’Urgell. This event will run until February 2, offering a rich agenda of activities that combine tradition and fun.
A day of renewal and celebration
On Monday, January 20, the capital of Alt Urgell celebrated its vow renewal in Sant Sebastià, turning the day into a celebration full of joy and community. The scheduled events attracted many attendees, with promises of more exciting activities to come.
Featured activities of the week
This week’s program continues with a mass in memory of the deceased brothers, scheduled for today, Tuesday at 8:00 p.m. in the Church of the Mission. In addition, on Thursday the 23rd, Antoni Campins, producer of the renowned Seda Líquida de Tuixent sake, will give a conference on ‘Fermented people and the production of sake in the Pyrenees’.
Music and tradition: a weekend full of activities
On Saturday the 25th, music lovers will be able to enjoy a concert at the Sala de Sant Domènec, where students from the Escola Municipal de Música de la Seu and the Barcelona Guitar Orchestra will show their talent starting at 6:00 p.m.
Additional programs and talks of interest
The following week also promises to be vibrant. On Monday the 27th, Jordi Dalmau, a well-known naturalist, will present a talk on ’20 years of raptor migration’ at 20:00 in the Sala de la Immaculada. Later, on Thursday 30, there will be a talk on the importance of historical memory with Salvador Sabrià and Lluís Obiols.
Competitions and theater
On Saturday, February 1, the El Passeig Civic Center will host a Botifarra Championship, with registrations starting half an hour before the event. To end the festivities, on Sunday, February 2, the Inestable Ceretana company will bring Molière’s ‘The Imaginary Sick Man’ to the stage at the Teatre de La Salle at 6:00 p.m.
Future exhibitions and activities
In addition to the celebration activities, from January 20 to February 20, the lobby of the Les Monges Cultural Center will host an exhibition of the works presented in the Sant Sebastià program’s Cover Contest. A concert by the Pyrenees Conservatory of Music choral project is also planned for the end of March.
