A festival that evolves
As the sun set on a Saturday afternoon, the Festus atmosphere vibrated with a palpable energy. Lighting its edition with a theatrical performance and concerts that started on Friday night, the festival has found a new Ritornell with its change of dates, from July to the end of May. Despite the setbacks of the pandemic in its first year, the Festus has adapted and has returned more strongly.
A passionate audience
With the increase in summer temperatures, it would be unlikely that Plaça Nova would be full of visitors in full sun. However, attendees, both local and outsiders, are faithful to the festival. With brochures in hand, they seek to combine performances and enjoy a show that challenges expectations.
The Innovation of Le Piston Errant
The start of the festival was marked by the performance of Le Piston Errant, a French company that was first presented in Catalonia. With a stage decorated with metal pieces and an eccentric air of mechanical, three artists vibrated the audience with the B-O-M show, an exploration of the interaction between human beings and machines.
A unique musical experience
The concert merged guitar sounds with robotic battery rhythms, creating a symphony of unusual noises that kept the audience fascinated for almost an hour.
Exploring emotions with blind
In Plaça de la Vila, Elelei Company presented to Cegues, a piece that explores the bewilderment that causes the loss of sight. Through movement and dialogue, artists reflected the experiences of someone who is in an unknown situation.
A reflection on loss
Rafa Jagat, one of the performers, commented that the play begins as a children’s game, but soon becomes a deep exploration of unresolved memories.
The Art of the Acrobatic
Manel Rosés, with his performance Akri, brought acrobatics to a new level, using a scale as a symbolic tool to represent the boundaries we find in key moments in life.
Dance and Tattoos: A multidimensional experience
As the festival progressed, the Lasadcum company surprised The Lesson, consolidating itself as one of the great promises of contemporary dance. At the same time, in the courtyard of Can Parrella, the art of tattoo was transformed into a stage act by Valentina Risi and Mateu Targa.
A night of celebration
With the afternoon passage, the gardens of Can Parrella were filled with the performances of Selva Nua, Carla and Egosex, who attracted the audience notably. The day began with Sklenka Melta, a show that combined glass and movement, as well as the impressive acrobatics of Tenet, who made full in Plaça de la Vila.
A bright future for the Festus
With a 28th edition that has left a positive imprint, the Festus is preparing for its 30th anniversary. Marc Marginedas, festival coordinator, emphasized the satisfaction with the response from the public, which ranged from a local audience and visitors from farther.
A moment of community connection
One of the most memorable moments was the participation of the Cani-Gó cobla! and Marta Sitjà, who encouraged the audience to dance a sardana in front of the Cirvianum, dressed in a peculiar clown style. This festive interaction culminated in a banner commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Sardanista Group of Torelló, thus celebrating the union of the community.
