Financial Sanitation Strategy
Figueres City Council has approved a Financial Consolidation Plan after closing the 2023 budget with a negative balance of 811,441 euros. This plan, which covers the period between 2024 and 2026, has been agreed with the area of ​​Financial Protection of the Generalitat de Catalunya. Both the finance councilor, Ramon Pastoret, and the mayor, Jordi Masquef, have highlighted the need for strict but flexible measures to anticipate the cancellation of the plan before 2026 if the situation improves.
Approved Measures
The Plan includes a program for the sale of municipal assets worth 6.1 million euros, which involves divesting several assets. In addition, it is expected to reduce the recruitment of personnel and affect the income of the Construction Tax. The finance councilor has recognized that the increase in the IBI would be the last resort if necessary.
