An unforgettable musical evening
The Blues & Ritmes Festival in Badalona hosted a spectacular performance by Françoiz Brief, the talented singer and composer of Normandy on Sunday, April 6. With the modern theater Margarida Xirgu as a stage, Brief presented its new album, ‘Vif!’, Which saw the light at the end of 2024.
A musical journey through time
In addition to the new material, the singer offered a selection of songs from his previous record, ‘Flux Flou de la Foule’ (2021), as well as classics of his long career, which covers almost three decades. Topics such as ‘Ma Alare’ and the Popular ‘If Tu Disais’ delighted an audience delivered.
A trio that creates unique atmospheres
Brief was accompanied by François Schulz, who alternated between ethereal percussion and guitars, and Marc Melià, a keyboard and programming expert. Together they created a cinematic atmosphere, ideal for the evocative lyric of the singer, who was moving between the Downtempo and the influences of the latest Radiohead projects.
The picture of a contemporary muse
Surprisingly, Brief’s clothing did not reflect the futuristic retro style of his cover, but evoked a more contemporary image, inspired by the character ‘Irma Vep’. With an air of Rock Star, the singer deployed hypnotic movements, as if invoking supernatural energies and ghosts.
Un Ritual Musical
The show started with songs that captured the essence of the night, with songs like ‘Hors Sol’, which opened the new album, and ‘The Nuit Repose’, creating an atmosphere that remembered a ritual of passage to a world of magic and mystery.
An experience that asked for more
Despite his charismatic presence, Negat glimpsed a certain communicative barrier with the public, perhaps due to his limitation in local languages. At the end of each song, their timid ‘Mercis’ could not hide their lack of interaction, although their musicians were welcomed with warm applause.
An electrifying closure
The concert culminated in ‘Derrière Le Grand Filter’, a theme that the audience left eagerly, after an hour and a quarter of show. After the performance, Brief went out to sign autographs, offering a moment of privacy with his admirers, who were eager to share a brief connection.
