An unexpected start
Joan Gironella, with deep roots in the Empordà field, never imagined that his agricultural experiences would lead him to be one of the most recognized names in the world of consulting. His grandfather’s insistence led him to higher education, where he chose to study economics, a path that, at first, did not seem to be his natural destiny.
Tax creation: a dream come true
Less than thirty years old, Gironella founded TAX in Figueres, an advisory office for companies and freelancers. His initial approach was towards taxation and accounting, but his vision went far beyond a simple local business. Its ambition was clear: to expand and become a reference in the sector.
A path full of challenges
After completing his studies, he faced the difficulty of catching customers. In order to gain experience, he joined Bankinter as Credit Chief, where he learned the keys to business management. This period was crucial, as it allowed him to make his way in the world of finance and culminated in the opening of his own consultancy.
Expansion and innovation: The key to growth
Tax was born in Figueres in 1988, and quickly opened new offices in Olot and Girona. Gironella opted for a franchise model that allowed him to expand throughout the State, with a fifth place in a short time. Its strategy focused on the constant reinvestment of benefits to ensure sustainable growth.
A clear business philosophy
Gironella’s philosophy is based on the reinvestment and continuous training of its workers. “My most valuable asset is the company itself,” he says. This vision has led him to create a highly specialized team, capable of addressing the diversity of needs of his clients.

With such an extensive experience, Gironella has closely observed the relationship between companies and the public administration. His criticism of bureaucracy is forceful: “The administration does not help, it only generates procedures.” This situation, according to him, damages the productivity and efficiency of companies.
Tax in figures: a consolidated success
After more than three decades, TAX has reached a turnover of 34 million euros by 2023 and manages a portfolio of more than 35,000 customers, from small freelancers to large companies. According to Gironella, this confidence is the true recognition of his work and dedication to the sector.
